The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harkimo tests Hyypia's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hyypia scores with a nice right hand.
Harkimo fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Hyypia is out of range.
Hyypia throws a quick counter head kick but Harkimo was just out of range.
Hyypia checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Harkimo thuds a left hand into Hyypia's body.
Harkimo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hyypia.
Harkimo connects with a looping right hand.
Harkimo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hyypia moves away.
It looked like Hyypia wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Hyypia throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Hyypia lands a really nice looking cross but Harkimo seems unphased.
Harkimo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Harkimo throws a low kick, looking for Hyypia's leg but Hyypia calmly moves out of range.
Harkimo attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
A low kick from Harkimo is predictable there
and Hyypia cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Harkimo counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Hyypia gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Harkimo counters with an outside leg kick.
Harkimo looks to land a body kick but Hyypia moved away.
Harkimo ducks under a wild hook from Hyypia.
Harkimo slips a jab and a cross from Hyypia.
Hyypia missing with a left hand there. Harkimo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Harkimo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Harkimo misses the jab.
Harkimo misses with a low kick.
Some bone on bone action there as Hyypia checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Keijo Harkimo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harkimo fakes the leg kick and cracks Hyypia in the body.
Harkimo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Harkimo cracks Hyypia with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Harkimo has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Hyypia to stand back up!

Hyypia is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harkimo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hyypia stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Oh Hyypia is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hyypia is breathing heavily.
Harkimo ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Harkimo lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hyypia takes a step back to recover.
Harkimo throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Hyypia seems to have got his legs back now.
Harkimo thuds a left hand into Hyypia's body.
Hyypia has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Harkimo.
Hyypia tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Harkimo walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Hyypia drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Harkimo swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Hyypia's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

After the fight, Keijo Harkimo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
