PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Royce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Royce kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Los-Countdown. Roberto Black is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roberto Black!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Royce goes for a double leg but Black avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Black continues to drive forward.

Royce clinches up with Black and pushes him back against the cage.

Royce jumps guard and drags Black to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Black trying to control but Royce is working from the bottom.
We've been hearing good reports from Royce's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Black postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Royce is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Black, into his guard.

Black is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Royce is aware though and is defending well.
Royce might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Black has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Royce can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Black is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Royce defends well.

Royce drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Royce jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Black had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Royce defends it easily.

Royce thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Royce drops back looking for a leg! Black is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Black manages to kick Royce off! Royce jumps back into Black's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Royce avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Royce with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Royce wants to control from the top but Black keeps moving.
Black utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Black has his foot on Royce's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Royce works his way back into a safe position though.

Black has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Royce should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Black has tightened it up now! Royce should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
