Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jerrod Beach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knee Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jerrod Beach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Knee Head!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beach throws a head kick that misses.
Head scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Jerrod Beach has been cut.

Head closes the distance and clinches.

Head breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Head shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Beach manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Head is fighting off a takedown attempt but Beach is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Head to the mat. Head regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Head wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Head shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Head seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Beach does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Head is looking to advance position but Beach won't allow it.
Head is looking to take a break and control but Beach is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Head moves nicely into side control.
Head wants to control but Beach is keeping him busy.

Head is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Beach knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Beach struggling a bit here.
Head laying and praying for a moment but Beach takes advantage and regains half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Beach rushes Head and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Beach is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Head to keep the fight standing.

Head keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Beach's efforts to push away.
Beach wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Beach wants a takedown.
Head is pressed up against the cage. Beach has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Head down to the mat. Head avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jerrod Beach. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jerrod Beach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Head looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Head drives through with a takedown into guard.
Head wants to control from the top but Beach keeps moving.

Head stands up from Beach's guard - Head perhaps looking for a knockout.

Beach throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Head was covering up waiting for the punch and Beach finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Head has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Beach off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Head avoids a kick to the body.
Beach misses with a body kick.
Head lands a nice leg kick that just misses Beach's sensitive parts.
Head throws a lazy head kick
and Beach counters with a left and a right that stings Head.
A combination from Head does no damage.

Beach gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Beach kicks Head off and gets to his feet.
Head tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Beach appears to be looking for a big counter.

Beach throws a head kick that misses.

Head closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Beach is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Head gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Beach jumps guard but Head turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Head stalling.

Head manages to pull guard.
Beach makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Head is trying to keep Beach in close.

Head looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Head working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Beach has passed into half guard!

Head has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Beach sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Head defending well though.
Beach not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Beach seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Head is trying to stand.
Beach performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Head checks the leg kick nicely there.

Head scores with a takedown into Beach's guard.

Beach working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Head doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Head manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Head is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Knee Head will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Head bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Knee Head has got the better of the ground game so far.
Head trying to control the action but Beach is working from the bottom.
Head taking a breather here.

Beach is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Head has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Beach tries to improve position but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Beach is looking to break free of the clinch but Head has double underhooks.
Head scores a nice knee to the body.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Beach tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Head just stands there and leans against the cage.

Beach has picked Head up - he's going for a ride! Beach dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Head trying to control from the bottom.
Head is looking for a sweep. Beach is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Beach landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Beach takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Beach throwing shots but Head is blocking nicely.
Head is looking to improve his position.
Beach working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Head is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Head scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Beach manages to mount him!

Beach moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Head has worked his arm free - good work by Head!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Beach pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Head shoots in and gets a takedown into Beach's guard.

Beach is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Beach fails to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Beach breaks the clinch.

Head manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Beach on his heels. He'll look to pass Beach's guard now, I'm sure.
Beach wants to stand and escape but Head is having none of it.
Head must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Head looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Head trying to control the position from guard on top but Beach is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jerrod Beach has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Knee Head is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jerrod Beach.
I think Head has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
