Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksander Tolstoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tolstoy has chosen Russian National Anthem as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksander Tolstoy!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell swings for the body but Tolstoy moves out of range.
Liddell lands a high kick to the side of Tolstoy's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Liddell dives into guard, looking to finish.


It looks like Aleksander Tolstoy has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tolstoy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Tolstoy is looking for a kimura but Liddell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tolstoy to get the leverage.
Liddell preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Tolstoy stops Liddell from getting back to his feet.

Tolstoy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Liddell sees it coming and defends easily.

Tolstoy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Tolstoy wants to work for an arm triangle but Liddell is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Tolstoy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Liddell swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Liddell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Liddell throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Liddell lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Tolstoy blocks a head kick by Liddell.
A telegraphed right hand from Liddell misses the target.
Liddell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tolstoy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Liddell.

Liddell throws a right and a left that both miss.

Tolstoy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

Liddell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Liddell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Tolstoy shoots in and bounces Liddell off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Tolstoy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tolstoy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Liddell doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tolstoy.

Liddell throws a push kick but Tolstoy slaps the foot to one side.

Liddell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tolstoy.
Tolstoy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Liddell as he jumps to the side.
Liddell lands with an uppercut that bounces Tolstoy off the ropes and back into rage.
Tolstoy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Liddell.
Tolstoy closes the distance but Liddell moves to the side
and Liddell finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Tolstoy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Liddell, pushing him back against the ropes.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Tolstoy creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Tolstoy lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Tolstoy keeps control of Liddell as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Liddell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
