The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
buzz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gricie's calf.
buzz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Gricie shoots in and drives through. buzz sprawls well.
Gricie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Gricie counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gricie.

Gricie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and buzz dives on top into guard.
Gricie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gricie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. buzz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. buzz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gricie is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! buzz rolls with it to try and escape but Gricie cranks on the arm and buzz is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
