The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes misses with a wild combination.
Hampton drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hughes sprawls and moves away.
Hughes scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Hughes rushes Hampton and presses him up against the cage.
Hampton tries to score a body lock takedown but Hughes shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hughes tries to pull guard but Hampton forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hughes gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Hampton misses with an elbow over the top.

Hampton breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That kick from Hughes tenderised Hampton's leg. Hampton is trying to keep his angry face on.

Hampton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hughes paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hughes with the counter takedown but Hampton avoids it easily.
Hampton displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hughes.

Hampton shoots in and gets a takedown into Hughes's guard.

Hughes pushes Hampton off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Hughes throws a right hand that Hampton ducks under and follows up with a left that Hampton also avoids with ease.
A little feinted left hand from Hampton on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hampton sprawls well. Hampton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet.
Victor Hampton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jojo Hughes.
Hampton stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hughes.
Hampton swats away the attempt to clinch by Hughes.

Hampton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hughes is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hampton wants to break the clinch but can't.

Hampton tries to circle away but Hughes has him pinned against the cage.

Hampton stands up from Hughes's guard - Hampton perhaps looking for a knockout.

Hughes tries to keep at a distance but Hampton has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hampton dodges the punch combination from Hughes.
Hampton thinks about countering with a head kick.
Hughes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hughes is working an open guard so Hampton takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hampton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hughes is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hughes wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Hampton's closed guard. He's half up but Hampton has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Hampton pivots and extends the arm, Hughes falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hampton! Well done that man!
