Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mir fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with George, pushing him back against the cage.
Mir tries a body shot but George blocks it.

Mir is fighting off a takedown attempt but George is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mir to the mat. Mir regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
George postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mir pulls George in close to prevent any damage.

George drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mir pulls his leg out and moves away.

Mir closes the distance and pushes George back into the cage.

Mir stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

George content to slow the pace in the clinch.
George has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mir avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Mir's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mir catches George with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Mir darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Mir is working for a kimura but George is defending it quite comfortably.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mir connects with a nice short shot to George's temple.

George is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mir feints and as George raises his hands in defense, Mir changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mir throws a strike but George rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mir misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from George.

George has had enough of the clinch but Mir keeps him there for the moment.
With the fighters up against the cage, George throws an elbow but misses.

George ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. George no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Marcelo George overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
George is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mir looking to sit in guard and control but George gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mir gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Mir shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mir is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Mir decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
George takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Mir forces George back against the cage and clinches.

George gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Mir has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but George is on him like a limpet, forcing Mir back against the cage.
Mir lands a shot to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mir lands a knee to the body.
Mir lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Mir presses George against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Mir is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Mir lands a damaging elbow.

Mir manages to break the clinch.
Mir leaves George with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Mir feints and as George raises his hands in defense, Mir changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

George can't keep his opponent in guard - Mir advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
George is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Mir jumps into side control!

Mir decides to stand up, so the ref orders George to his feet.

Mir shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

George manages to escape and get back to his feet!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mir closes the distance and pushes George back into the cage.
George tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mir smiles and moves away.
George looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcelo George. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mir lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as George backs up against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Mir comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mir has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
