Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Avery Bolton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billie Joe Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bolton blocks a head kick by Armstrong.
Bolton wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Armstrong gets a double leg takedown into Bolton's guard.
Armstrong postures up in Bolton's guard and throws a big left but Bolton blocks it.
Armstrong wants to get up but he can't break Bolton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bolton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Armstrong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Armstrong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bolton preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Armstrong controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bolton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Armstrong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bolton is trying to keep Armstrong in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Armstrong gets a clinch.
Armstrong blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Armstrong gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bolton.
Bolton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bolton takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Avery Bolton has been cut.

Armstrong has Bolton pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Armstrong pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Bolton tumbling to the mat - Armstrong dives into Bolton's guard.
Armstrong tries to free his leg and advance position but Bolton is retaining full guard.

Armstrong is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bolton is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bolton has escaped and now he's on top!

Armstrong is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Armstrong is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bolton postures up and lands a big shot to Armstrong's brow.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Armstrong has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Bolton is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Armstrong is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bolton can't fight it off and eventually Armstrong manages to take the fight to the floor. Bolton looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Bolton manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Bolton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Armstrong fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Billie Joe Armstrong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bolton sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Bolton is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Armstrong closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Bolton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Armstrong shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bolton's guard.
Bolton keeping moving, preventing Armstrong from controlling successfully.

Armstrong throwing strikes but missing.
Armstrong wants to pass the guard but Bolton is keeping the position.

Bolton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Armstrong defends it easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Armstrong rushes Bolton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Armstrong escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bolton walks forward, straight into a front kick from Armstrong.

Armstrong dives in and scores a takedown into Bolton's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bolton trying to keep a closed guard but Armstrong is proving a slippery customer.
Armstrong is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Armstrong has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Armstrong prevents Bolton from getting back to his feet.
Armstrong is stalling in the full guard.
Armstrong throws a big elbow that misses.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Armstrong stands and steps away. Bolton gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Armstrong closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Armstrong gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Armstrong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Armstrong has managed to clinch.

Armstrong pulls guard effortlessly.

Armstrong pulls Bolton in close to prevent any damage.

Armstrong has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bolton is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Armstrong.
Armstrong is trying to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Armstrong wants to control but Bolton postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billie Joe Armstrong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Armstrong shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Armstrong was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bolton throws Armstrong to one side and escapes!

Armstrong changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bolton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Armstrong working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bolton wants to get back to his feet.

Armstrong decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Armstrong fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bolton sprawls well initially but Armstrong persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Armstrong thows a huge punch but Bolton dodges it nicely.
Bolton wants to control but Armstrong is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Bolton looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Armstrong throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Armstrong postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bolton to stand up.

Armstrong is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bolton's half guard.

Bolton manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Armstrong keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Armstrong breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Armstrong thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Bolton if he has to take too many more of those.

Armstrong looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Bolton!
An elbow from Armstrong crashes against the mat.
Armstrong is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bolton's shoulder. That is not cool.

Armstrong is trying to get an arm triangle but Bolton is defending well.
Armstrong tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Bolton wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Armstrong stands up and beckons Bolton to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Billie Joe Armstrong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Armstrong has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
