Wakabayashi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, vvotaro - Noi. Yuta Wakabayashi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yuta Wakabayashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hit Run!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wakabayashi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Wakabayashi looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Run looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wakabayashi is one step ahead there.
Run controls Wakabayashi momentarily but Wakabayashi frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wakabayashi forces his way into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Run looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Wakabayashi sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Run defending well though.
Run should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wakabayashi is looking for submissions but instead, Run has regained full guard.

Wakabayashi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Run manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wakabayashi has Run in his guard.

Run pushes down on Wakabayashi's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Wakabayashi wants to get back to his feet.

Run seems to be working for a kimura but Wakabayashi defends the submission attempt.
Run prevents Wakabayashi from improving his position.
Run works his way into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Run tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Run has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Run goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Wakabayashi rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Run's guard! Nice work there by Wakabayashi!

Run has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wakabayashi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Run throws his legs up looking for a submission but Wakabayashi uses it to pass to side control.
Run looks winded!
Wakabayashi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Run tries to improve position but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wakabayashi goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Run rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Wakabayashi's guard! Nice work there by Run!

Wakabayashi has his feet on Run's thighs here. He's pushed Run off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Run screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Yuta Wakabayashi!
A very excited looking Yuta Wakabayashi rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
