Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Donald Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfonso Garrett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Garrett defends well and Pierce ends up having to push Garrett into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Pierce counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pierce.
Pierce is working Garrett over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Pierce decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Garrett, up you get!

Garrett closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pierce quickly recovers to half guard.

Garrett is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pierce has managed to free his arm - good work.
Garrett seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pierce does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pierce has Garrett pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pierce pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Garrett tumbling to the mat - Pierce dives into Garrett's guard.
Pierce makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Garrett has momentary wrist control but Pierce slips an elbow through the middle.
Pierce really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pierce will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Pierce stands up over Garrett, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Garrett controls Pierce momentarily but Pierce frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garrett will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pierce is sitting in close to Garrett's body. Garrett has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Pierce is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Pierce is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Garrett.
