The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sobral closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gatmaitan throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Gatmaitan lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Gatmaitan misses with a two punch combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sobral throws the left hand but Gatmaitan avoids the punch easily.
Sobral takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Oooooh!!! Gatmaitan has knocked Sobral down with a huge combo! Gatmaitan steps away and waves a wobbly Sobral back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Renato Sobral has been cut.
A decent looking cross lands there for Gatmaitan.

Gatmaitan drops Sobral with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Sobral looks back up at him and smiles so Gatmaitan waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Sobral is rocked!
Gatmaitan lands with a big right hook that stumbles Sobral - he's out on his feet here! Gatmaitan follows up with another monster hook that separates Sobral from consciousness! Sobral falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Gatmaitan stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jose Gatmaitan! Jose Gatmaitan retains his heavyweight title!
