Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cris Newman Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pat Sinlet!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sinlet lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Newman Jr circles away quickly and effectively.
Sinlet has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Newman Jr is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Newman Jr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sinlet shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Newman Jr is trying to defend but Sinlet finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Newman Jr wants to stand back up but Sinlet manages to pass into side control.

Newman Jr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sinlet on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sinlet tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Newman Jr tries to control Sinlet's body but Sinlet pushes him off. Newman Jr squirms to his side and now Sinlet has his back!

I really don't envy Newman Jr right now.
Newman Jr is taking damage to the body and head.


It looks like Cris Newman Jr has been cut.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Newman Jr defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Sinlet's arms.
Sinlet is hanging on to Newman Jr's back as he tries to escape.

Sinlet controlling the position well here. Newman Jr rolled but Sinlet kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nice takedown defense from Sinlet. No joy for Newman Jr on that attempt.

Newman Jr wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sinlet has him pressed against the cage.
Sinlet is breathing heavily.

Sinlet jumps guard and drags Newman Jr to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Newman Jr wants to stand but Sinlet has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Newman Jr postures up in Sinlet's guard and throws a big left but Sinlet blocks it.
Newman Jr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Newman Jr throws an elbow that misses. Sinlet uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Newman Jr's guard. Nice move by Sinlet!
Sinlet is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Newman Jr wants to hit a switch here but Sinlet passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Newman Jr there!

Newman Jr tries to reverse the position but Sinlet maintains control.
Sinlet has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Sinlet controlling the pace for now.
Newman Jr takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sinlet pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Sinlet quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Sinlet but it's paid off an Newman Jr is forced to tap! Nice work by Sinlet.
