Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kedar Dere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Cirkunov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kedar Dere!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Felipe Cirkunov!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cirkunov misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Dere to counter with a crisp jab.

Cirkunov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Dere explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Cirkunov gets a clinch.

Cirkunov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cirkunov clinches up with Dere and pushes him back against the cage.
Dere is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cirkunov to keep the fight standing.
Dere tries to pull guard but Cirkunov holds him up against the cage and eventually Dere drops back down to his feet.
Dere tries to pull guard but Cirkunov forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kedar Dere. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cirkunov is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Dere is trying to pull guard but Cirkunov has him pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cirkunov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Cirkunov closes the distance and pushes Dere back into the cage.
Dere tries to pull guard but Cirkunov won't allow it.

Dere is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cirkunov is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dere to the mat. Dere regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Cirkunov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cirkunov wants to control from the top but Dere keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cirkunov looking to sit in guard and control but Dere gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dere really is a fat lump.

Cirkunov pushes a forearm under Dere's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Dere is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Felipe Cirkunov!
