Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leigh Reeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos Xavier is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Xavier fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Reeves to the ground. Xavier is now in Reeves's guard.
Xavier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Reeves works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Reeves wants to sweep here but Xavier controlling him for the moment.
Xavier is looking to work some ground and pound but Reeves has wrist control.
Xavier wants to control from the top but Reeves keeps moving.
Xavier lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Xavier in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reeves wriggles free and stands up.

Xavier scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Reeves pushes Xavier off and gets back to his feet.

A head kick misses from Xavier.

Xavier gets a double leg takedown into Reeves's guard.
Xavier wants to pass the guard but Reeves is keeping the position.
Xavier works over Reeves with some ground and pound from guard.
Xavier must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Reeves is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reeves drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reeves jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Xavier leaves Reeves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Xavier drives through with a takedown into guard.

Reeves is trying to keep Xavier in close.

Xavier trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Xavier throws a big right hand that misses.
Reeves is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Reeves gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Reeves has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Xavier is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Reeves is breathing heavily.

Xavier works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

A close round but Carlos Xavier will probably get the nod.

Xavier shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Xavier was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Reeves prevents Xavier from moving into mount.
Reeves sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Reeves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Xavier is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Reeves gets back to full guard.
Reeves is pulling down on Xavier's head. It's preventing any offense from Xavier, at least for the moment.

Xavier has gone for a leg lock! Reeves slips out almost immediately though and dives into Xavier's guard.

Xavier pushes Reeves off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Xavier looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Reeves!

Reeves throws Xavier to one side and escapes!

Xavier shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Xavier showed some decent athleticism there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are battling for position here. Reeves manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Reeves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Xavier controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Reeves bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Xavier's guard.

Xavier is trying to keep Reeves in close.
Reeves is standing up over Xavier. Xavier looks to escape but Reeves dives into side control.

Reeves tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reeves has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Xavier wants to get back to his feet.
Xavier is trying to control Reeves's posture but Reeves avoids it.
Xavier manages to work his way to half guard, despite Reeves's best efforts.
Xavier keeping hold of Reeves's head, controlling as best he can.

Reeves is trying for a kimura here. Xavier looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Reeves wins by kimura!
