PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jon Aragao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Sharpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sharpe comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Sharpe throws a combination. Aragao tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Sharpe fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sharpe takes a swing at Aragao's ribcage but misses.
Sharpe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Aragao fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sharpe throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Aragao is looking for a counter combo.

Aragao shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Aragao passes Sharpe's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Aragao takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Aragao lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Aragao trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Sharpe throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Aragao is looking to stand but Sharpe has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Aragao wants to control the pace but Sharpe is squirming around nicely.

Sharpe instigates a clinch.
Sharpe tries to pull guard but Aragao holds him up against the cage and eventually Sharpe drops back down to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Aragao postures up in Sharpe's guard and throws a big left but Sharpe blocks it.
Sharpe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Sharpe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aragao is one step ahead there.
Aragao wants to control from the top but Sharpe keeps moving.
Sharpe pulls Aragao in close to prevent any damage.
Aragao is stalling in the full guard.
Sharpe is looking to stand up but Aragao isn't so interested in that idea.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Aragao wants to pass the guard but Sharpe is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sharpe throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Aragao gets control of Sharpe's arms and successfully pulls guard. Aragao will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Aragao has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sharpe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Aragao not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sharpe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aragao. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ricky Sharpe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Sharpe feints a jab promting Aragao to slip. Sharpe then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Aragao slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Aragao wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Sharpe tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Aragao just stands there and leans against the cage.
Aragao is working for takedown but Sharpe is calmly controlling the position for now.
Sharpe struggles to land a body shot inside as Aragao controls his hands.

Aragao using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sharpe has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Sharpe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Aragao shoots in but no luck this time.
Sharpe leaves Aragao with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Aragao. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sharpe clinches.
Sharpe fails to pull guard.

Aragao's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sharpe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Sharpe is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Aragao tries to stall but Sharpe uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

A shot in the inside from Sharpe.
Sharpe can't find room to land a body shot as Aragao controls the action.
Sharpe is working for takedown but Aragao is calmly controlling the position for now.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Aragao manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Sharpe with that takedown attempt.
Sharpe stuffs the takedown attempt from Aragao. Aragao gets slowly back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Aragao changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sharpe tries to avoid it but Aragao manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sharpe to the ground. Sharpe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sharpe throws a series of strikes that have Aragao backpedaling.
Aragao shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sharpe as he avoids it easily.
Sharpe lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sharpe.
Sharpe has a takedown stuffed.
Aragao stuffs the takedown attempt from Sharpe. Sharpe gets slowly back to his feet.

Sharpe closes the distance and pushes Aragao back into the cage.
Aragao is looking for a takedown.
Sharpe digs a right hand underneath Aragao's ribcage. Aragao let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Sharpe is pressed up against the cage. Aragao has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sharpe down to the mat. Sharpe avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Aragao goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A nice combination there by Sharpe.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sharpe shoots in looking for a takedown but Aragao manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sharpe's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sharpe goes for a double leg but Aragao avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Aragao continues to drive forward.

Sharpe gets a clinch.
Sharpe tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Sharpe breaks from the clinch.
Sharpe darts in looking for a takedown but Aragao gets double underhooks and turns Sharpe into the cage.
Aragao shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sharpe pinned against the cage. Sharpe gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ricky Sharpe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sharpe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
