PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ahmed Lang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jovito Leonardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ahmed Lang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jovito Leonardo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lang is looking to clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Leonardo! But no joy.
Leonardo works the jab nicely.
Leonardo loads up on a big right hand but Lang slips the punch.
Lang tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Leonardo manages to circle out of the way.
Leonardo throws a hook to the side of Lang's head but Lang sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Lang moves into the clinch.
Leonardo is trying to push Lang away but Lang has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Lang manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leonardo misses with a hook. Lang ducked under it nicely.
Lang moves in looking to clinch but Leonardo pushes him off.
Good standup being displayed there by Leonardo as he connects with a hook.
Leonardo tests Lang's chin there with a solid looking shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lang bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lang tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Leonardo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lang fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lang shoots in looking for a takedown. Leonardo tries to sprawl out of it but Lang keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leonardo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lang misses with a body kick.
Leonardo throws a body punch but Lang moves out of range.
Lang is looking to counter the offense by Leonardo and move into the clinch.
No luck for Lang with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ahmed Lang. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Leonardo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Leonardo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Leonardo works the jab nicely.
Leonardo throws a body shot but no joy.
Lang bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Leonardo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Leonardo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Lang misses with a takedown attempt
and Leonardo scores with a counter punch that sends Lang to the canvas! Leonardo smells blood - he's punishing Lang with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Lang has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
