Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimo Ovaska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vit Tu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ovaska comes to the ring accompanied by Big Balls by AC/DC. Tu comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Blanket on the ground kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimo Ovaska!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 22 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vit Tu!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tu fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Ovaska leaves Tu with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ovaska swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Ovaska ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Ovaska throws out a loose jab but Tu uses good head movement to avoid it.
Tu throws a sloppy body shot
and Ovaska cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ovaska feints and then cracks Tu's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tu down.
Ovaska connects with a nice looking jab.
Ovaska misses with an uppercut.
Tu takes a swing at Ovaska's ribcage but misses.
Ovaska connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tu. Ovaska does a little dance to reset his feet.
Tu gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ovaska makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Tu doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ovaska counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Vit Tu has been cut.
Kimo Ovaska has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vit Tu.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ovaska feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Tu's calf.

Tu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tu throws a body shot but no joy.
Ovaska wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ovaska takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kimo Ovaska seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ovaska cracks Tu with a right hand to the side of the head.
Tu just misses with a punch to the body.
Ovaska lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Tu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ovaska's waist but Ovaska gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tu off to one side.
That kick from Ovaska tenderised Tu's leg. Tu is trying to keep his angry face on.
Tu swings for the body but Ovaska moves out of range.
Kimo Ovaska is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A cross from Ovaska lands.
Ovaska throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Tu counters with a nice uppercut.
Tu takes one on the button.
It looks like Ovaska has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tu shoots in for a takedown but Ovaska shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tu shoots and misses
and Ovaska counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Tu thinking.
Tu looks winded!
Tu shoots in looking for a takedown. Ovaska tries to sprawl out of it but Tu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Ovaska manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tu takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Tu shoots in looking for a takedown. Ovaska tries to sprawl out of it but Tu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Ovaska manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like Ovaska was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tu.
Tu misses with an uppercut. Ovaska saw that one coming.
Tu slips under a jab.
Ovaska fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Tu's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ovaska connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Tu scrambles back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tu misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ovaska.
A big left from Ovaska misses.
Tu is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ovaska rather than just go for the knockout.
Nice cross by Ovaska.
Ovaska misses with a series of wild punches.
And Tu tries to counter it with a takedown but Ovaska pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Ovaska rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ovaska throws a leg kick

and Tu counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Tu.
Ovaska pulls Tu in close to prevent any damage.
Tu pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ovaska is keeping the position for now.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Tu's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Tu postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Tu tries to free his leg and advance position but Ovaska is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tu pushes down on Ovaska's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tu misses with a head shot. Ovaska uses the momentum to regain guard.
Ovaska is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
My spies in Russian Fighting Community Gym inform me that Tu has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Ovaska wants to improve his position but Tu is controlling well.
Ovaska is concentrating on defense, preventing Tu from advancing position.
Tu landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Tu passes the guard and advances to mount!
Tu avoids the attempt from Ovaska to control.
Tu punching from mount but Ovaska doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Tu goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ovaska is on top in guard.

Ovaska is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Tu has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Ovaska is looking to defend but Tu has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Ovaska! Tu pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Ovaska taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Vit Tu!
