Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Whane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Furious Bastard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Whane has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bastard changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Whane looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Whane sneaks back into half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Whane trying to control here.
Whane is trying to stand back up but Bastard is controlling him
Bastard is trying to control the action in half guard but Whane is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bastard trying to pass the guard but Whane defending well.
Whane tries to roll over but Bastard keeps him under control.

Whane will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Whane tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bastard fails with a takedown attempt.

and Bastard decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Whane's guard.

Whane looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bastard is one step ahead there.
Whane bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bastard's guard.
Whane trying to control the position from guard on top but Bastard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bastard striking off his back but it's not causing Whane any problems.
Bastard looking to hit a scissor sweep but Whane is one step ahead there.
Whane stands and throws Bastard's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bastard wants to control but Whane postures up.
Bastard tries to buck Whane off but Whane is having none of it.
Bastard can't do much from the bottom here.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Whane throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Bastard is looking to improve his position but Whane isn't that keen on the idea.
Bastard is squirming around, avoiding Whane's attempts to control the action.
Bastard tries to hold on but Whane postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Whane tries to control but Bastard wriggling away.

Whane is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bastard can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bastard is wriggling around trying to escape.

Whane cracks Bastard with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Bastard defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Whane.
