Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edwin Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Melvin Moroz!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Evans.

Evans throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Moroz was covering up waiting for the punch and Evans finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Evans sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Evans wants to pass the guard but Moroz is keeping the position.
Evans sitting in guard here, content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans scoring with some ground and pound.
Evans not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Evans slips nicely into half guard.
Moroz looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Evans takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
It looks like Evans is going to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Evans wants to pass to mount but Moroz is defending the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Moroz is looking to control Evans's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Moroz avoid being mounted?

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Evans is defended easily by Moroz.
Evans fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Moroz avoids it really well and circles away.
Moroz tries a head kick but it misses.

Evans shoots in and bounces Moroz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moroz trying to control the position.
Moroz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Evans won't allow Moroz to get back to his feet.
Evans tries to free his leg and advance position but Moroz is retaining full guard.
Evans content to stall in guard here.
Evans has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Evans has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Moroz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Evans defends well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Moroz clinches up against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Moroz keeps control of Evans as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Moroz is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edwin Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Moroz drops down looking for an ankle pick but Evans pulls his leg out and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edwin Evans dominated that round.
That's time! Evans's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Moroz swats away the attempt to clinch by Evans.
Moroz feints the counter takedown.
Edwin Evans is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A head kick misses from Evans.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Moroz.
Evans fails with a takedown attempt.
Evans tries to land a leg kick but Moroz saw it coming and moves away.
Moroz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Evans as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Evans throws a body punch but Moroz moves out of range.

Evans closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Evans lands in his opponent's guard.
Evans slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Evans stops Moroz from standing up.

Moroz wants to control position but Evans is using a can opener to pass guard... He's turned it into a full on guillotine from mount now! Big trouble for Moroz here! He's turning a lovely shade of purple and yep! He's tapping out! I would say world class Jiu Jitsu but is it really? It was nice but let's not get silly about it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Edwin Evans!
Edwin Evans opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
