The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunines shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Peugiez counter with a right hand.

Peugiez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gunines did well to prevent Peugiez getting side control.
Gunines is pressing down on Peugiez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gunines had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Peugiez defends it easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gunines can do anything to dispel that myth.

Peugiez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gunines doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Peugiez.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Peugiez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Peugiez frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gunines really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peugiez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
