Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Joseph Adams enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frankie Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joseph Adams!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adams moves into range and clinches up with Riggs.
Riggs misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Adams.
Riggs is looking to break free of the clinch but Adams has double underhooks.

Adams jumps guard and drags Riggs to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Adams looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Riggs has picked Adams up and slammed him! Adams can't keep hold of the triangle and Riggs manages to pass to side control!
Riggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Adams is trying to improve his position.
Riggs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Adams is trying to control Riggs's posture but Riggs avoids it.
Riggs throws a strike aimed at the side of Adams's head but Adams avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Riggs goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Adams has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Riggs but great work by Adams.
Adams content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Riggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Adams on the ground.
Adams cracks Riggs with a big right hand but Riggs just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Adams wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Riggs, who protects the arm well.
Riggs tries to buck Adams off but Adams is having none of it.

Riggs is looking for a sweep.

Adams decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Adams closes the distance and clinches.
Adams has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Riggs after a bit of a struggle.
Riggs looking to throw knees to the head but Adams is blocking nicely.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Adams.
Riggs missing with knees to the body.
Riggs with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Adams is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Riggs can't fight it off and eventually Adams manages to take the fight to the floor. Riggs looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Adams stands and steps away. Riggs gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Adams moves into the clinch.
Adams connects with a knee to the head.


It looks like Frankie Riggs has been cut.
Riggs gets underhooks to prevent Adams's takedown attempt.
Adams prevents a body shot from Riggs.
Riggs wants to break the clinch but can't.

Adams pulls guard effortlessly.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Riggs stopping the sweep attempt from Adams.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Riggs loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Adams looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


Riggs tries to clinch but Adams moves out of range.
Adams fails with a takedown attempt.
Riggs drops down looking for a counter takedown but Adams sprawls and moves away.
Riggs shoots in for a takedown but Adams shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Adams gets a clinch.

Adams pulls guard successfully.
Riggs trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riggs throws a big right hand that misses.
Riggs makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Riggs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Adams pushes Riggs off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Adams with a poor takedown
and Riggs counters with a straight right hand.
Adams lands with a kick to the temple. Riggs shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


Riggs is rocked!
Adams connects with a superb combination that knocks Riggs out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Adams before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Riggs!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Joseph Adams!
