Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julius Hallava!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ivan Locke!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Locke is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hallava sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Locke shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Locke is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hallava is trying to stand back up but Locke is controlling him
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Locke is pressing down on Hallava's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hallava is holding on for now.
Hallava is refusing to be controlled, as Locke sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Locke is working for a kimura but Hallava is defending it quite comfortably.

Locke is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hallava is defending against the submission attempts here by Locke.
Hallava on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Locke with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Locke not landing any meaningful shots this time.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Locke working his ground and pound in the gym.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hallava looks like he's trying to stand up.

Hallava kicks off Locke and gets to his feet.
Hallava throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Locke shoots for a takedown but Hallava saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hallava misses with a low kick.
Locke feints the counter takedown.
Hallava defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Locke.
Julius Hallava has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Locke.
Locke tries for a takedown but Hallava sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ivan Locke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Locke fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hallava displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Locke.
Hallava fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Locke has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Locke shoots for a double leg takedown but Hallava sprawls well. He's pushed Locke's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Julius Hallava is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Locke gets the takedown into side control.

Locke tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Locke scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hallava to see if he's OK.

Locke goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hallava has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Locke but great work by Hallava.
Hallava knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Locke on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Locke manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Hallava decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Locke shoots in but Hallava avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Locke closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hallava circles away.
Hallava slaps away a takedown attempt from Locke, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Locke goes for a double leg but Hallava avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hallava continues to drive forward.
Locke looks winded!
Hallava lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Ivan Locke has been cut.
Hallava with a hook.
Hallava thuds his shin into the meat of Locke's side.
Hallava is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Hallava shuts the power down on Locke. Lights out, game over! Hallava is your winner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Julius Hallava!
