The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Margabiaru swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Margabiaru lands a left and a right that send Matthews crashing to the mat, dazed. Margabiaru thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Theo Matthews has been cut.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Matthews has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Matthews shoots in and gets a takedown into Margabiaru's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Margabiaru wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Matthews has him pressed against the cage.

Margabiaru feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Matthews sprawling to the canvas! Matthews rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Margabiaru finish him?!
