The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bush stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Bush goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Bush with a poor takedown
and Smith counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Bush throws a low kick but it's checked well by Smith.
Bush tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Smith is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Smith takes a swing at Bush's ribcage but misses.
Bush tries to sprawl but Smith drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Smith takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bush pushes Smith off and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bush wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
A head kick misses from Bush.

Dave Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Smith uses his free foot to push down on Bush's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bush.

Bush wants to control but Smith is having none of it.
Smith lands a couple of good shots and Bush has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Smith gets his hands free as Bush looks to control.
I would not like to be Bush right now.
Smith has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Bush! Can he survive? No! He's out! Smith gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
