PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Larry Kushman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Farofa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry Kushman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Farofa!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Kushman finds it's way through Farofa's defenses.
Farofa misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kushman looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kushman throws the left hand but Farofa avoids the punch easily.
Farofa throws out a counter right but Kushman avoids it with no problem.
Kushman misses with a wild combination.

Kushman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Farofa has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kushman is on him like a limpet, forcing Farofa back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A right hook to the body lands for Kushman.
Kushman blocks the elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Kushman lands a knee to the head.
Kushman is working Farofa over against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Kushman.
Farofa misses with a body punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Farofa throws a head punch that misses.
Kushman scores with a shoulder strike.

Kushman is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Farofa can't fight it off and eventually Kushman manages to take the fight to the floor. Farofa looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Farofa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kushman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kushman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kushman postures up in Farofa's guard and throws a big left but Farofa blocks it.

Kushman throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kushman trying to control but Farofa is working from the bottom.
Kushman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Farofa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kushman is pushing down on Farofa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Farofa is fighting to maintain full guard but Kushman has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kushman passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Farofa!
Kushman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Farofa sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Kushman landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Kushman is keen to just control but Farofa is a slippery customer.

Kushman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Farofa is just riding it out for now. Kushman eventually gives up the hold.
Kushman drops an elbow to the side of Farofa's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kushman wants to control but Farofa is keeping him busy.
Kushman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Farofa avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kushman.
Kushman is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Farofa!
Farofa is bucking up trying to escape but Kushman cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Kushman moves to the back.

Kushman has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Farofa! Can he survive? No! He's out! Kushman gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
