PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonqw Fray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucas Cabrera told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonqw Fray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lucas Cabrera!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fray tries a low kick but Cabrera avoids it.
Cabrera moves out of range of the strikes.
Cabrera throws a leg kick but Fray sees it coming and moves out of range.
Cabrera throws a leg kick but Fray sees it coming and moves out of range.
Cabrera avoids the body shot from Fray.
Cabrera appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Fray takes one to the side of the head.
Cabrera misses with an uppercut.
Cabrera misses with a double jab.
Some bone on bone action there as Fray checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Cabrera throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fray swings for the body but Cabrera moves out of range.
Lucas Cabrera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fray misses with a looping left.
Fray has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Cabrera.
Cabrera scores with a crisp jab that stopped Fray in his tracks.

As Fray backs off Cabrera throws a huge counter combo but Fray manages to avoid it all.
Cabrera moves into range and connects with a jab.
Cabrera is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Fray cracks a nice hook into Cabrera's ribs.
Cabrera uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Cabrera takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Fray has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Mello MMA in the buildup to the fight.
Cabrera finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Fray is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cabrera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Fray is looking to take a break and control but Cabrera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cabrera is trying to get back to his feet.
Fray tries to advance to mount but Cabrera instead regains half guard.
Cabrera is not content to let Fray control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Cabrera feints and then cracks Fray's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Fray down.

Fray dives in and grabs Cabrera's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cabrera pushes down on Fray's head and hops out.

Fray is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cabrera is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cabrera has escaped and now he's on top!

Fray is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cabrera defends well.

Cabrera looking to sit in guard and control but Fray gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Cabrera wants to stand and escape but Fray is having none of it.

Fray is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cabrera lands with a hook. Fray tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Fray has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fray there as he acknowledges the shot.

A little jabbing left from Cabrera on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

I've got Cabrera winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
