PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Strange (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Kehoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kehoe's choice of entrance music: "Master of Puppets" by Metallica. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Strange!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Kehoe!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kehoe looks to score with a jab to the body but Strange is just out of range.
Strange drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kehoe sprawls and moves away.
Kehoe connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Strange momentarily.
Strange displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kehoe throws out the jab.
Strange half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Kehoe is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Strange.

Strange has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kehoe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Strange has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kehoe is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Strange.

Kehoe throws a strike aimed at the side of Strange's head but Strange avoids it well.
Strange takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Strange is staying active underneath Kehoe, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Strange has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Kehoe escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Kehoe!

Strange tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kehoe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kehoe postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Well Kehoe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
