PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between AJ Kool (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Aguiar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, AJ Kool!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marco Aguiar!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aguiar is looking to clinch.

Kool rushes Aguiar and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kool is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Aguiar pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kool wants to get back to striking at distance but Aguiar won't allow it.

Aguiar manages to pull guard.
Kool sitting in guard here, content to control.
Kool would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Aguiar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kool can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kool stops Aguiar from standing up.

Aguiar manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kool's best efforts.
Kool prevents Aguiar from improving his position.

Kool could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Aguiar is wriggling around trying to escape.
Aguiar wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aguiar tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Kool can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Aguiar is looking to escape.

Aguiar is trying desperately to improve position.
Kool trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Kool moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Aguiar has worked his arm free - good work by Aguiar!
Kool is breathing heavily.
Aguiar is looking for a sweep.

Aguiar wants to control but Kool postures up.
Kool is looking to take a break and control but Aguiar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Aguiar can't do much from the bottom here.

Kool tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kool has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Aguiar manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kool's best efforts.

Aguiar will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

A thudding body kick lands there by Kool!
Kool clinches but Aguiar breaks the clinch

and Aguiar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kool won't be happy with that.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kool gets to his feet - Aguiar follows without any prompting.
Aguiar wants to clinch.

Kool feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Aguiar has hold of Kool's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kool manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Kool wants to hold on but Aguiar pushes him away.
Aguiar postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kool looks a forlorn figure.

Kool wants to control but Aguiar is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kool tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Aguiar avoids the attempt from Kool to control.
Aguiar lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Aguiar lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kool hang on?
BOOM! Aguiar connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Kool tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kool is bucking up trying to escape but Aguiar cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Marco Aguiar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kool closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Aguiar to the mat! Aguiar manages to get full guard.

Kool decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Aguiar looks to land a combination. Kool sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Aguiar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kool avoids a punch combination nicely.

Kool decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kool throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kool decides to stand and escape the position.

Kool drives through and clinches with Aguiar against the cage.

Aguiar is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kool can't fight it off and eventually Aguiar manages to take the fight to the floor. Kool looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Aguiar is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kool is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kool has escaped and now he's on top!
Aguiar wants to stand but Kool is controlling the position.

Aguiar keeping moving, preventing Kool from controlling successfully.
Aguiar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kool stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aguiar swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kool passes Aguiar's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Aguiar pushes Kool off and gets back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Marco Aguiar.
I've got Aguiar winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
