PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Elekid Battery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Superior Nucleus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nucleus is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Tupac - Hit 'Em Up. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elekid Battery!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Superior Nucleus!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nucleus looks to throw a body kick
and Battery cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Battery tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nucleus connects with an inside leg kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Nucleus.
Battery moves out of range as Nucleus throws a body kick.
Nucleus blocks a low kick nicely.
Battery looks for the body kick but Nucleus saw that one coming.
Nucleus has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Nucleus tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Elekid Battery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Battery stuffs the takedown.
Battery looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Battery throws a sloppy head kick and Nucleus moves out of range easily.
Battery throws a right and a left that both miss.

Battery gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Nucleus drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Battery dives on top into guard.

Battery wants to stand and escape but instead Nucleus has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Nucleus slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Nucleus is looking to take a break and control but Battery is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Nucleus looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Battery tries to escape but Nucleus is in control.

Nucleus tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nucleus has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nucleus working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Nucleus is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Battery has escaped the position, nice work there.
Nucleus has knee on belly and moves into mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nucleus looking to control but Battery is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Nucleus is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Battery to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Battery shrugs it off.

Nucleus looking to secure an arm triangle but Battery defends it well.
Battery knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nucleus on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nucleus has hold of Battery's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Battery manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Superior Nucleus dominated that round.
That's time! Battery's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Battery plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Nucleus avoids the head kick by Battery.
Battery throws a head kick but Nucleus moves out of range.
Nucleus lands a glancing blow to the side of Battery's head.
Battery throws a sloppy head kick and Nucleus moves out of range easily.
Battery fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Nucleus.
Nucleus swings and misses with a hook to the body.
As Nucleus backs away, Battery returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head kick misses from Battery.
Battery displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nucleus.
Battery missing with a left hand there. Nucleus was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Battery throws a sloppy head kick

and Nucleus counters by moving into the clinch.

Nucleus manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Superior Nucleus has got the better of the ground game so far.

Battery has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Nucleus to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Battery is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Nucleus pulls down on the head and he's put Battery to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Superior Nucleus! Superior Nucleus retains his lightweight title!
An out of breath Superior Nucleus thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
