Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keiichi Yamada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carson Battistoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Keiichi Yamada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carson Battistoni!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Battistoni misses the target.
A looping hook to the body misses from Yamada. Battistoni does a little dance to reset his feet.
Battistoni looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Battistoni's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Yamada connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Battistoni scrambles back to his feet.

Battistoni uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Yamada throws a looping overhand right but Battistoni ducks down to avoid it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Battistoni is controlling Yamada's trapped leg to prevent Yamada from advancing to side control.
We've been hearing that Yamada has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Yamada throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Battistoni is looking for a sweep. Yamada is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Yamada passes to side control.
Yamada is trying to move to mount but Battistoni reverses beautifully and ends up in Yamada's guard.

Yamada is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Battistoni is aware though and is defending well.
My spies in Sweat inform me that Battistoni has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Yamada is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Battistoni wants to get back to his feet.

BOOM! Yamada connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Yamada fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Yamada misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Yamada can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Battistoni is looking to escape.

Yamada jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Battistoni is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Battistoni and Yamada has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The ground and pound from Yamada seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yamada is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Battistoni knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Yamada closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Yamada thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yamada is staying active underneath Battistoni, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Keiichi Yamada overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Yamada is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Yamada has his foot on Battistoni's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Battistoni works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Battistoni's corner is telling him to maintain position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Battistoni wants to control from the top but Yamada keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Yamada moves out of range of the strikes.
Yamada steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Battistoni.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close second round but Carson Battistoni will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Battistoni escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Battistoni's jab looks to have found its range, popping Yamada under the eye.
Yamada wants to clinch up but Battistoni keeps it at a distance.
Yamada ducks under a wild hook from Battistoni.
Yamada tries to clinch there but Battistoni circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Carson Battistoni comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Battistoni has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
