Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mariano Abel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Wood has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abel slips a straight right by Wood.
Wood misses with a right hand
and Abel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Scott Wood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wood has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Wood there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Abel counters with a nice uppercut.

Abel lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Abel lands a head kick. Wood smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Abel throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Abel connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wood. Wood circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Wood will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've been told by Abel's head coaches at Team Alfalfa Meal that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Abel feints and then cracks Wood's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wood down.

Abel thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Wood if he has to take too many more of those.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wood might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The crowd cheers as Wood lands an impressive looking overhand right. Abel doesn't seem phased though.
Abel gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Wood gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
