Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Kean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thunder Lightning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brandon Kean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thunder Lightning!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lightning keeps the fight on the outside.
Kean tries to close the distance and clinch but Lightning swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kean pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kean tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lightning swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Lightning scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Lightning thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Lightning swings around for an armbar but Kean sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lightning's guard.
Lightning is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Lightning looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Lightning looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kean passes into half guard.

Kean wants to stand up but Lightning is controlling the position.
Lightning tries to get to full guard but Kean has control of the leg.

Lightning has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Kean escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Kean!

Kean wants to stand but Lightning is controlling his arm.
Lightning tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kean presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kean stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Lightning misses with an uppercut. Kean saw that one coming.
Kean tries to clinch but Lightning is having none of it.

Kean gets caught flat footed, as Lightning shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Lightning drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kean dives on top into guard.

Lightning is looking to improve his position.
Lightning wants to sweep but Kean has passed to side control!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kean stands up.
Kean is looking to clinch.
Lightning shoots in but no luck this time.
Kean tries to clinch up but Lightning circles away and keeps his distance.
Kean doesn't manage to clinch there - Lightning circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brandon Kean will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lightning moves out of range of the body kick.
Kean tries to close the distance and clinch but Lightning swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kean misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Kean clinches up with Lightning and pushes him back against the cage.
Kean with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Lightning fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brandon Kean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thunder Lightning.
Kean tries to land knees in the clinch but Lightning avoids the damage to the body.
Kean with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Kean tries a knee to the head but Lightning blocks it.
Lightning dodges an elbow strike from Kean.
Lightning goes for a takedown attempt but Kean pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Lightning counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lightning.

Lightning wants to control from the top but Kean keeps moving.
Kean wants to stand but Lightning is controlling the position.

Lightning has gone for a leg lock! Kean slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lightning's guard.

Lightning is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Lightning isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kean stacks Lightning on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kean!

Lightning looking for a sweep but Kean has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Kean wants to stand but Lightning is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Lightning working to try and regain half guard.

Lightning slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Lightning manages to get to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lightning had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kean is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Lightning Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kean's back instead.
Kean is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Lightning is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Kean has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Lightning is looking for the choke from the back position but Kean is controlling his hands well.
Thunder Lightning has got the better of the ground game so far.

Lightning is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kean defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thunder Lightning showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Kean throws a sloppy head kick and Lightning moves out of range easily.

Kean gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kean is looking to stand up but Lightning isn't so interested in that idea.

Lightning drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kean dives on top into guard.

Kean trying to control but Lightning is working from the bottom.

Lightning manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kean manages to get himself to full guard.

Kean is looking to stand back up but Lightning counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kean.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lightning is working for a kimura but Kean is defending it quite comfortably.

Lightning looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kean is defending against the submission attempts here by Lightning.

Lightning is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Thunder Lightning comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lightning has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
