Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vun Diesel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Carrer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Carrer has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Vun Diesel's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vun Diesel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex Carrer!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrer leaves Diesel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Diesel closes the distance and pushes Carrer back into the cage.
Stalling in the clinch from Diesel.
Carrer drops down looking for an ankle pick but Diesel pulls his leg out and moves away.
Diesel shoots in for a double leg but Carrer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Diesel has taken the fight to the clinch.

Diesel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Diesel fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carrer, pushing him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diesel drags the fight down to the ground.
Diesel wants to stand up but Carrer is controlling him.
Diesel controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Diesel controls Carrer momentarily but Carrer frees himself.
Diesel thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Carrer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Diesel has his feet on Carrer's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Diesel shoots in for a takedown but Carrer shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vun Diesel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Diesel.
Nice sprawl there from Diesel as Carrer shoots in.

Carrer stuffs the takedown attempt from Diesel. Diesel gets slowly back to his feet.

Diesel closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Diesel is trying to pull guard but Carrer turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Carrer wants to take the fight to the mat but Diesel manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Diesel breaks from the clinch.
Diesel shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Diesel lands with a slapping head kick.
Diesel tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carrer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Carrer stuffs the takedown.
Diesel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carrer but Carrer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diesel fails with a takedown attempt.

Diesel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carrer tries to avoid it but Diesel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carrer to the ground. Carrer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Carrer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Carrer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Diesel on his heels. He'll look to pass Diesel's guard now, I'm sure.
Diesel not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Diesel is adopting a defensive guard.

Carrer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Diesel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Diesel has escaped and now he's on top!

Carrer has his foot on Diesel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Diesel works his way back into a safe position though.
Diesel passes Carrer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Diesel seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Diesel decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diesel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carrer circles away.
Diesel sets himself, and Carrer steps forward looking for the clinch! Diesel avoids it this time.
No luck for Diesel with that takedown attempt.
Diesel misses with a takedown attempt - Carrer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Carrer shoots in and drives through. Diesel sprawls well.
Carrer goes for a double leg but Diesel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Diesel continues to drive forward.

Diesel gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Diesel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Carrer wants to stand but Diesel is controlling his posture from full guard.

Diesel has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Carrer is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Diesel manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Vun Diesel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Carrer has gone for a leg lock! Diesel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Carrer's guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Carrer wants to control but Diesel is keeping busy.
Diesel controlling the action here.

Diesel decides to stand and escape the position.

Diesel moves into the clinch.
Diesel jumps guard but Carrer stands there with Diesel around his waist. Diesel gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Diesel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No joy there for Diesel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Diesel wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

We've been informed that Carrer has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Diesel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vun Diesel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Diesel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diesel wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Carrer is now in half guard.

Diesel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carrer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Diesel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Carrer cracks Diesel with a solid left hand.
Diesel wants to hit a switch here but Carrer passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Diesel there!

Carrer is working for a guillotine from mount but Diesel frees his head quite easily.
Diesel tries to lock up and control but Carrer gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Carrer has hold of Diesel's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Diesel manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Diesel is in all sorts of trouble here.
Diesel is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carrer lands a big shot there that rocks Diesel but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Diesel really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Diesel reaches up and holds on to Carrer to control the position.
Alex Carrer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I would just about give that final round to Alex Carrer.
