Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Numero Cero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Furious George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cero comes to the cage accompanied by Hate Me Now - Nas. George is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Lamb of God - Descending. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Furious George was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 17 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Numero Cero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Furious George!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cero scores with a leg kick.
George moves out of range of the body kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Cero finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
An inside leg kick lands from Cero.
Cero scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Numero Cero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
George walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Cero throws the kick towards the body but George avoids it.
George drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cero defends it well.

Cero pushes George off and scrambles back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

George lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cero circles away quickly and effectively.

and George counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cero won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cero is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

George is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cero is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

George is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cero is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Cero is trying to get back to his feet.
Cero is trying to get back to half guard.
Cero is not content to let George control the position.
George sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Cero is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

George is looking to take a break and control but Cero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

George thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Cero is not content to let George control the position.
Cero gets back to half guard.

George is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
George stops Cero from getting back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
George thows a huge punch but Cero dodges it nicely.
Cero keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
We've been hearing good reports from Cero's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
George wants to pass to mount but Cero is defending the position.

George is trying to control the action in half guard but Cero is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A close round but Furious George will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Cero tries to bum rush George with a series of wild strikes but George uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And George tries to counter it with a takedown but Cero pushes his down on his head and steps out.
George takes a jab right on the kisser.
Cero throws a sloppy head kick and George moves out of range easily.
A little jabbing left from George on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Cero throws a shot to the body.
Cero feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Georges jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Cero works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
A head kick by Cero misses
and George makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Cero is looking to score with low kicks.
Cero throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
George swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
George shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cero as he avoids it easily.
Furious George is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cero throws out a loose jab but George uses good head movement to avoid it.
And George tries to counter it with a takedown but Cero pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Cero goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cero cracks a nice hook into George's ribs.

George blocks the body kick.
And George tries to counter it with a takedown but Cero pushes his down on his head and steps out.
George lands with a cross.
Numero Cero is winning the standup battle so far.
Cero scores with a kick to the body.
Cero fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Cero lunges at George with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by George's hand.
Cero slips under a jab.
Cero misses with an attempted mid kick.
Cero throws a big shot that misses.
Cero lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but George circles away quickly and effectively.
George with the counter takedown but Cero avoids it easily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Cero. George shrugs it off though.

Cero misses with a straight left.

Cero gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows George to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Cero manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cero ducks down and throws a hook to the body but George moves away.
Cero throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Cero misses with a body kick.
George dives in for a single leg takedown but Cero sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
George blocks a head kick by Cero.
Cero goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Cero gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cero avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Cero wants to stand but George is controlling the position.

Cero pushes George off and scrambles back to his feet.
George on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
George throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cero looks to throw the jab but George is out of range.
George fails with a takedown attempt.
Numero Cero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Furious George.

George changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Cero lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Cero fails to land with a series of punches.
George lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Cero is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by George.
Cero wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Cero misses with an uppercut.
George is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
George shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cero as he avoids it easily.
Cero fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and George has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
George moves out of range of the body kick.

Cero throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Cero throws a wild body kick that George sees coming a mile off.
George drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cero defends it well.
George is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Cero lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Cero misses with a body kick.
George feints the counter takedown.
Cero tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
George drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cero defends it well.
Cero throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and George counters with a straight right hand.

This has been an exciting period of action!

George drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cero looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cero looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cero!

Cero throws a leg kick but George moved away.
Cero is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by George.
George moves out of range of the body kick from Cero.
George lands with an uppercut that bounces Cero off the cage and back into range.
Cero misses with a straight right.
Cero cracks a nice hook into George's ribs.
Cero throws a quick head kick that skims the top of George's head.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from George is defended easily by Cero.
It looked like Cero was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
George scores with a nice head shot.
Cero is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Cero swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Cero is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that George can do to turn this around?

Cero manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cero dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on George. That did some damage!
Cero throws a body shot but no joy.
George gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A lazy left from Cero finds it's target.


George is rocked!

Cero misses with a kick to the body

and George counters with a shoot takedown. Cero fights it but they end up in guard.
Cero seems keen to control George's posture.
George throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
George wants to control from the top but Cero keeps moving.
George throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cero works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Cero looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cero wants to stand but George is controlling the position.
George works a leg free and moves into half guard.

George missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

George is looking for a kimura but Cero is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for George to get the leverage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cero is on top in guard.

Numero Cero showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Cero has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Numero Cero spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
