Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Orkan Dogu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cole River (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). River has chosen Creedence Clearwater Revival - Born On The Bayou as his entrance music. Cole River acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Orkan Dogu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Cole River!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dogu throws a body shot but no joy.
Dogu lands with a right hand.
River cracks the inside of Dogu's front leg.
River lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Dogu closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Dogu swings for the body but River moves out of range.
A jab from Dogu does it's job there.
Dogu scores with a hook to the body. River takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Dogu misses with a wild body shot.
Dogu sets himself, and River steps forward looking for the clinch! Dogu avoids it this time.
River uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dogu.
River tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
River throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dogu sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Dogu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but River avoids it really well and circles away.

River manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

I was talking to Dogu's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

River lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

River does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
River misses with an uppercut. Dogu saw that one coming.
River just misses with a punch to the body.
Dogu avoids a kick to the body.
Dogu shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
River will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
River swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cole River is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

River looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dogu will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dogu drops down looking for a counter takedown but River sprawls and moves away.

It seemed like River was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Nice straight punches there by River. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of River.
Dogu circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
River throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
River throws a lazy right hand but Dogu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dogu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
River lands a nice shot that snaps Dogu's head back.
Dogu uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by River.

Dogu walks into a left hand.
Dogu looks to land a left hand but River moved out of range nicely.
River displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dogu throws out the jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

River has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Some bone on bone action there as Dogu checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
River has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

River slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
River takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
River is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
River wants to stand up but Dogu is controlling him.
Dogu keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of River's head.
Dogu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now River is on top in guard.

Dogu is looking for a triangle but River pushes his legs off easily.

Dogu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. River doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. River manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

I would just about give that final round to Cole River.
