Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Hendrix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyle Chipperson!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendrix avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hendrix seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Chipperson clinches.
Hendrix tries to pull guard but Chipperson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hendrix is struggling to control the position.
Hendrix landing knees to the body.

Chipperson wants the takedown. Hendrix is fighting it off but Chipperson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hendrix's guard against the cage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hendrix tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Chipperson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Hendrix counters by clinching up.

Hendrix fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Chipperson manages to break the clinch.
Chipperson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Hendrix counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chipperson won't be happy with that.

Chipperson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chipperson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hendrix is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hendrix postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Chipperson drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hendrix has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Chipperson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Hendrix throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Chipperson blocks it with crossed arms.
Hendrix jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Chipperson walks away with a smile on his face. Hendrix gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Chipperson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hendrix did well to prevent Chipperson getting side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chipperson is trying to trip Hendrix. He has hold of a leg but Hendrix is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Chipperson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Hendrix manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Hendrix has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Chipperson uses from the top position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Chipperson has gone for a leg lock! Hendrix slips out almost immediately though and dives into Chipperson's guard.

Jimmy Hendrix has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lyle Chipperson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jimmy Hendrix.
I think Chipperson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
