PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kenshiro Kitase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Gallitin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenshiro Kitase!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joey Gallitin!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kitase circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kitase shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gallitin as he avoids it easily.

Gallitin shoots for a double leg takedown but Kitase sprawls well. He's pushed Gallitin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gallitin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gallitin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kitase's waist but Kitase gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gallitin off to one side.
Kenshiro Kitase has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Gallitin.
Gallitin doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kitase counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kitase.
Gallitin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kitase smiles and moves away.
Kitase misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Kitase shoots in and bounces Gallitin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kitase controlling from the top position.

Gallitin looks gassed!
Gallitin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Gallitin wants to sweep here but Kitase controlling him for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kitase gets to his feet. Gallitin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A decent looking body kick lands there for Kitase.

Kitase shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gallitin can't keep his opponent in guard - Kitase advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kitase sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Kitase's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Kenshiro Kitase just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Gallitin gets caught flat footed, as Kitase shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kitase is in close to Gallitin's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Kitase passes into half guard.
Kitase passes to full mount!
Kitase controlling from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenshiro Kitase dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kitase shoots and misses

and Gallitin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kitase!
Kitase regains half guard.
Gallitin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kitase is positioning himself well to prevent Gallitin advancing to mount.

Kitase pushes Gallitin off and gets back to his feet.
Gallitin fails with the takedown

and Kitase counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kitase is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gallitin is looking to get back to is feet but Kitase passes into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Gallitin's face as Kitase controls the position.

Kitase has hold of Gallitin's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Gallitin seems comfortable defending it but Kitase has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Gallitin is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Gallitin is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kitase couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kenshiro Kitase!
