The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Applewood. No joy for Perkins on that attempt.
Applewood seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Perkins has his feet on Applewood's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Brent Applewood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Perkins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Applewood manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Perkins is looking for a kimura but Applewood is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Perkins to get the leverage.
Applewood tries to roll over but Perkins keeps him under control.

Perkins is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Applewood doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Perkins.
Perkins seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Perkins landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
