The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maafala wants to clinch.
Maafala tries to clinch there but Mofumofuko circles away.
Mofumofuko 's coach down at La Grande BJJ & Muay Thai was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mofumofuko 's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

It looks like Itula Maafala has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maafala has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mofumofuko after a bit of a struggle.
Maafala tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mofumofuko avoids it.

Itula Maafala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mofumofuko throws a chopping leg kick but Maafala manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Jeffrey Mofumofuko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Maafala closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mofumofuko sneaks out the side door and pushes Maafala away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mofumofuko drops Maafala with a beautiful combination! Maafala stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Mofumofuko is looking for the KO!
