PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregory Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JD Hogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adams comes to the cage accompanied by Gaslight Anthem - Boxer. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregory Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, JD Hogg!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogg tries to close the distance and clinch up but Adams swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hogg has taken the fight to the clinch.
Adams fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hogg misses with a knee to the head.

Adams manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hogg is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Adams can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hogg controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Adams goes for a double leg but Hogg avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hogg continues to drive forward.
Despite the aggression on Hogg's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Adams tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hogg defends well and Adams ends up having to push Hogg into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gregory Adams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hogg tries to clinch there but Adams circles away.
Adams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hogg avoids it really well and circles away.
Hogg keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Hogg clinches with his opponent.
Adams jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hogg walks away with a smile on his face. Adams gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

It looks like Gregory Adams has been cut.
Hogg misses with a knee to the head.

Adams successfully pulls guard.
Hogg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hogg is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hogg tries to free his leg and advance position but Adams is retaining full guard.
Hogg slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Adams is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hogg is aware though and is defending well.
Hogg is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Adams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hogg's waist but Hogg gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Adams off to one side.
As Adams backs off Hogg throws a huge counter combo but Adams manages to avoid it all.

Hogg rushes Adams and presses him up against the cage.
Adams jumps guard but Hogg turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A left hand lands to the body for Hogg.
Adams is breathing heavily.
Adams takes an elbow to the temple.
Hogg lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Hogg crunches a lovely knee into Adams's ribcage.
Hogg landing some nice looking knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Hogg closes the distance and clinches.
Hogg putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Adams in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Hogg lands a shot to the body.

Adams avoiding damage as Hogg throws knees to the body.

Gregory Adams's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Hogg crunches a lovely knee into Adams's ribcage.
Hogg tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Hogg lands a right hand that snaps the head of Adams backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hogg lands a good knee to the midsection. Adams won't want to take too many of those.
Hogg looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Adams's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hogg misses with a knee strike.

Hogg lands a hook to the side of the head.


Jeez, Gregory Adams's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Hogg has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hogg connects with a massive knee from the clinch and Adams goes down! Hogg jumps into full mount looking to finish!


Adams is rocked!

Hogg tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Oh Adams is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hogg is continuing to stall.
Adams seems to have got his legs back now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Adams keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hogg takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Adams is squirming around, avoiding Hogg's attempts to control the action.
Hogg controlling the pace for now.
Adams is wriggling around trying to escape.

Adams tries to hold on but Hogg postures up.
Hogg looking to control and managing it successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hogg avoids the attempt from Adams to control.
Hogg tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hogg wants to get back to his feet but Adams is holding on tight.
Adams really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hogg takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hogg wants to control the pace but Adams is squirming around nicely.
Adams can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JD Hogg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Gregory Adams's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). JD Hogg!
Post fight, JD Hogg stared into the camera and said 'I appreciate the opportunity to prove to the fans that this worthless loser can't hold my jock and does not belong in the same cage with me.'.
