The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Noonan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Myrene.
Noonan connects with a leg kick. Myrene looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Myrene tries for a takedown but Noonan circles away easily
and Noonan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Myrene shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Noonan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Myrene throws a strike aimed at the side of Noonan's head but Noonan avoids it well.
Noonan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Myrene wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Noonan isn't going anywhere.
Noonan can't do much from the bottom here.

Myrene misses with the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Noonan parries the strikes from Myrene easily there. Myrene is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Noonan to escape.
Noonan sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Noonan is looking for a sweep. Myrene is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Noonan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Noonan.

Noonan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Myrene is fighting to break Noonan's control of his arms but Noonan is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Myrene throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Noonan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Myrene throws a strike but Noonan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Noonan lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Myrene wants to stand and escape but Noonan is having none of it.

Noonan is nestled in close to Myrene, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
