The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bright drives through and clinches with Cavaliers against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cavaliers lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bright wants to get back to his feet but Cavaliers is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bright has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Cavaliers is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Bright with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bright throws a big elbow that misses.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cavaliers is on top in guard.

Bright kicks Cavaliers off and gets to his feet.
Bright looks to land a combination but Cavaliers avoids it well.
Cavaliers throws a good cross that connects.
Cavaliers gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bright counters with a three punch combo that has Cavaliers backing up. Cavaliers nods at Bright to acknowledge the strikes.

Bright clinches up with Cavaliers and pushes him back against the cage.

Cavaliers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Bright counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cavaliers's knee momentarily.
Jamie Bright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Cavaliers.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Cavaliers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bright's waist but Bright gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cavaliers off to one side.

Bright clinches up against the cage.
Bright lands a shoulder strike.
Bright really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bright pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Bright looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Cavaliers has hold of one of Bright's legs. Bright is fighting the takedown attempt but Cavaliers gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Bright pushes Cavaliers off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Bright tries to counter with a takedown but Cavaliers is quick to defend against it.
Marcelo Cavaliers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cavaliers connects with a nice looking jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
