Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Huey Manley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shaw looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Manley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Manley throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Some bone on bone action there as Shaw checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Shaw looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Manley pushes Shaw away with a front kick.

Manley takes one to the chin there.
Shaw cracks Manley with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Manley tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Shaw stuffs the takedown attempt from Manley. Manley gets slowly back to his feet.
Shaw is looking for the big counter here.

Shaw stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shaw wants it to stay on the feet.
Good exchange - Shaw coming out on top.
Manley walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Shaw takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

and Shaw counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A looping hook to the body misses from Shaw. Manley does a little dance to reset his feet.
A slapping leg kick lands for Manley.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Manley is defended easily by Shaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Huey Manley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shaw, as that shot connected.

Some bone on bone action there as Shaw checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Shaw swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Manley takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Manley takes one on the button.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shaw misses with a straight right.
Good work by Shaw as he checks the leg kick.
Shaw misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Manley's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Shaw connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Manley scrambles back to his feet.

Shaw lands a head shot.
Shaw throws a looping overhand right but Manley ducks down to avoid it.
Shaw is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Manley had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Manley takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Shaw scores with a nice head shot.

Manley shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Well, if Manley is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Manley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Shaw is looking to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shaw can do anything to dispel that myth.
Manley not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Still in half guard, Manley seems content to control.
Manley lands with a punch from half guard.
Manley thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Manley working over Shaw with some ground and pound. Shaw looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Shaw dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Shaw misses with a combination

and Manley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Shaw has momentary wrist control but Manley slips an elbow through the middle.
Manley lands a couple of elbows.
Manley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Manley throws a strike but Shaw rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Manley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Manley throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Manley is nestled in close to Shaw, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Manley is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Shaw is hurt! He's hurt bad - Manley fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Shaw from any more punishment! Congratulations to Manley! Great finish!
