PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jer Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daryl Smudge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bear might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Good Times. Smudge has chosen Ballad of The Big Boy as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Sloppy strikes from Smudge. Those never looked like landing.
Bear connects with a body shot.
Bear connects with a leg kick. Smudge looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Smudge takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Smudge throws an overhand right that lands on Bear's shoulder, as Bear tries to avoid the shot.
Smudge throws a right hand that Bear ducks under and follows up with a left that Bear also avoids with ease.
Bear closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Bear lunges at Smudge with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Smudge's hand.

Bear throws a series of punches but Smudge avoids them all with ease.
Smudge changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Bear tries to score with a low kick but Smudge moves his leg out of the way.

We've been told by Bear's head coaches at Death Valley Training Facility that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Bear wants to clinch.
Bear misses with a wild combination.
Bear keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bear looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jer Bear is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bear looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Smudge throws a body punch but Bear moves out of range.
Smudge thuds a left hand into Bear's body.
Bear fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Smudge has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Bear fails to land with a series of punches.
Bear has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bear there as he acknowledges the shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Smudge shoots in and gets a takedown into Bear's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bear bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smudge's guard.

Bear in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Bear is looking to work some ground and pound but Smudge has wrist control.

Bear throws a strike but Smudge rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Bear is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bear lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Bear throwing shots but Smudge is blocking nicely.

Bear stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Bear throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bear tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Smudge throws a body shot but no joy.
Bear fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smudge looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Smudge gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Bear.
Bear throws a head kick that Smudge semi-blocks.
Bear throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smudge.
Bear displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Bear throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smudge drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bear defends it well.
Smudge misses with an uppercut. Bear saw that one coming.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bear is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smudge can do to turn this around?
Bear tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smudge was well out of range. Poor timing from Bear.
Bear stalks Smudge and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smudge's face. Smudge staggers backwards, shaken.

and Smudge decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bear's guard.
Bear wants to get back to his feet but Smudge is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Smudge is nestled in close to Bear, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smudge lands a nice short elbow.

Smudge is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bear flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Smudge looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Bear is rocked!

Jer Bear's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smudge connects with a nice short shot to Bear's temple.
Oh Bear is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jeez, Jer Bear's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jer Bear's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Daryl Smudge!
A less than humble Daryl Smudge misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
