The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damato Jr has his takedown stuffed
and De La Cruz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Pete Damato Jr has been cut.
Damato Jr tries for a takedown but De La Cruz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Damato Jr uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by De La Cruz.
Damato Jr feinted with a counter takedown.
Damato Jr shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. De La Cruz is trying to defend but Damato Jr finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
De La Cruz wants to get back to his feet.
De La Cruz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Damato Jr prevents De La Cruz from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De La Cruz controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
De La Cruz has hold of Damato Jr's hands but Damato Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Damato Jr winds up and cracks De La Cruz with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
De La Cruz is rocked!
Damato Jr is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, De La Cruz is hurt! He's hurt bad - Damato Jr fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save De La Cruz from any more punishment! Congratulations to Damato Jr! Great finish!
