The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws the left hand but Matroskin avoids the punch easily.
Matroskin on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Matroskin wants to counter with a clinch but Smith pushes him away.

Smith shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Matroskin missing with a left hand there. Smith was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Matroskin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
