Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Hal Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pedro Meireles!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meireles swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Meireles lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Santos backs up against the cage.


It looks like Hal Santos has been cut.
Santos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Santos drops his hands momentarily and Meireles takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Meireles ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Meireles throws a series of punches but Santos moves out of range.
Pedro Meireles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Meireles throws a left and a right that both miss

and Santos counters with a single leg into guard. Meireles didn't expect that.
Santos working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Santos is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Santos makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Santos chips away with some ground and pound.
Santos throws a big right hand that misses.
Santos lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Santos chips away with some ground and pound.
Santos throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Meireles works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Meireles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Santos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santos stands up over Meireles, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Santos postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Santos working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Santos has gone for a leg lock! Meireles slips out almost immediately though and dives into Santos's guard.


Meireles wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Santos's closed guard. He's half up but Santos has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Santos pivots and extends the arm, Meireles falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Santos! Well done that man!
