PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Khaled Kalil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Whyte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalil kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Black Rob - Whoa!. Khaled Kalil had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Khaled Kalil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Whyte!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalil lands a jab to the nose.
Kalil pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Whyte wants to slow Kalil down by chopping away at his legs.
Whyte scores with the left hand. Kalil knows he should have avoided that one.
Whyte lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kalil backs up against the cage.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Whyte crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kalil - the referee stops the clock and Whyte gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kalil. Whyte manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Kalil throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
A good leg kick by Whyte.
Kalil throws a front kick aimed at Whyte's knee but Whyte avoids it well.
Whyte has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Whyte there as he acknowledges the shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kalil tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Whyte was well out of range. Poor timing from Kalil.
Khaled Kalil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kalil pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Despite the aggression on Whyte's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Whyte uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kalil has time to react.
Whyte tries to clinch up but Kalil circles away and keeps his distance.
Whyte is looking to clinch but Kalil is avoiding it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Whyte uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kalil.
Whyte throws out a counter right but Kalil avoids it with no problem.
Whyte misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A quick step to the side and Kalil tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kalil lands a jab.
Kalil lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Whyte circles away quickly and effectively.
A jab from Whyte misses.
Kalil tries a head kick but it misses.
A nice inside leg kick there by Kalil. That's going to slow Whyte down.
We've been told by Kalil's head coaches at King's Palace that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Whyte avoids a kick to the body.
As Kalil backs off Whyte throws a huge counter combo but Kalil manages to avoid it all.
Whyte scores with a one two! Kalil had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Kalil lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kalil throws a sloppy head kick and Whyte moves out of range easily.
Whyte flicks out a counter leg kick but Kalil steps away.
Whyte blocks a head kick by Kalil.
Kalil finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Whyte's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Kalil falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Whyte!
