The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morkevicius scores with a head kick.
Morkevicius has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Morkevicius throws a head kick that Johnson semi-blocks.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Morkevicius. Johnson shrugs it off though.
Morkevicius dives in for a single leg takedown but Johnson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Johnson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Morkevicius quickly recovers to half guard.

Morkevicius tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Morkevicius somewhat.

Morkevicius shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
It looked like Johnson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Johnson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnson lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morkevicius swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnson is fighting to break Morkevicius's control of his arms but Morkevicius is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
