Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Salvatore Berg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ze Patanisca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Salvatore Berg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ze Patanisca!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patanisca moves into the clinch.
Berg fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Patanisca is trying to break free.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Berg.
Berg wants a takedown.

Berg jumps into guard, dragging Patanisca to the mat.

Patanisca gets to his feet - Berg follows without any prompting.

Patanisca shoots in and gets a takedown into Berg's guard.
Patanisca really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berg. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Berg trying to keep a closed guard but Patanisca is proving a slippery customer.
Patanisca is looking to stand up but Berg won't let him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Patanisca might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Berg wants to stand and escape but Patanisca is having none of it.

Berg is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Berg escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Patanisca gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Berg will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Patanisca throws a strike but Berg rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Berg controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Berg won't allow Patanisca to sweep him here.
Patanisca is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Berg is stalling in the full guard.

Patanisca wants to stand up but Berg is controlling him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Patanisca darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Berg has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Patanisca is working away from the top position though.
Berg keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Berg is staying active underneath Patanisca, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Patanisca tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Berg counters with a single leg into guard. Patanisca didn't expect that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Patanisca tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Berg tries to counter with a takedown but Patanisca is quick to defend against it.
Patanisca is looking to clinch.
Berg tries to counter by clinching up but Patanisca breaks away and moves out of range.
Patanisca tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Berg manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Berg seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Berg just misses with a punch to the body.

Patanisca throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Berg was covering up waiting for the punch and Patanisca finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Berg manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Berg wants a takedown.
Patanisca misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Berg really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Patanisca is trying to push Berg away but Berg has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

With the fighters up against the cage, Patanisca throws an elbow but misses.

Berg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Berg breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Patanisca throws out a leg kick but Berg moves out of range and Patanisca only half commits.
Berg changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Patanisca wants to clinch.
Patanisca is looking to clinch but Berg is avoiding it.
Patanisca closes the distance but Berg moves to the side

and Berg counters with a shoot takedown. Patanisca fights it but they end up in guard.

Berg scoring with punches to the head and body.
Berg stays in close to Patanisca's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Berg passes Patanisca's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Patanisca can do anything to dispel that myth.
Patanisca is looking to escape.
Patanisca is breathing heavily.

Berg stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Patanisca tries to close the distance and clinch but Berg swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ze Patanisca seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Patanisca fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Berg, pushing him back against the cage.

Berg manages to break the clinch.
Patanisca looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Berg drops down looking for a counter takedown but Patanisca sprawls and moves away.

Patanisca misses with a two punch combination.
Patanisca fails in his attempt to clinch.

Patanisca drives through with a takedown into Berg's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Berg has control of Patanisca's left arm, preventing Patanisca from doing any damage.
Salvatore Berg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Berg escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Patanisca gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Patanisca is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Patanisca takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Berg gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Berg is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Patanisca defends well.
Berg throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Patanisca is sitting in close to Berg's body. Berg has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Patanisca is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Patanisca is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Berg.
